Our wonderful tasty mead from Potštejn
„We make our traditional Potštejn mead from high-quality spring honey from dandelions, other spring flowers and fruit trees. Therefore, it smells so wonderful, and tastes even better. The recipe has been meticulously refined over the years and is considered a rare family treasure. We produce mead in the gentlest way possible, without heat treatment, in order to preserve the beneficial substances from bee honey. We let nature do the work, so we do not add any preservatives, dyes, sugar, or flavourings. The taste of mead thus reflects the taste of the honey from which it is made, and every sip is a real pleasure for your taste buds.“
The recipe has been perfected by us for 30 years
The mead from Potštejn was the first mead that we produced. At that time, we did not have an exact family recipe that was handed down from one generation to the next. Therefore, we read many handbooks and even discussed the fermentation process with a winemaker.
At the same time, we had been constantly improving the whole process, ensuring optimum storage conditions, controlling the temperature during production and maturing and testing and flavouring the product on a regular basis. The mead from Potštejn has thus been developed to perfection for nearly thirty years. Today we can say that we would not change a single step in the manufacturing process.
The unique taste is the result of best ingredients
Our traditional mead is made by fermentation of blossom honey, where special yeast is used. Because we want to preserve all the important ingredients of bee honey, the product is not heated during production.
The composition of our mead is also unique. It contains no preservatives, artificial colorings or flavorings. None of our meads are soured or sweetened (we do not standardize) and their taste depends on the type of honey used. Our goal is to produce a unique and extraordinary taste. That is why we let the mead to mature for at least 18 months.

- Mead can be enjoyed at a room temperature, thus it will warm you up nicely.
- When it is very cold outside, heat the mead to 50 °C and serve it warm in a cup.
- In summer, however, mead can be very refreshing. Either leave the bottle in the refrigerator and then serve the drink chilled, or...
- ...pour the desired amount of mead into a plastic bottle and place it into the freezer. The water contained in the mead freezes, but the alcohol remains liquid. The result is a drink that contains small pieces of ice and at the same time preserves an extraordinary taste of mead. It is an amazingly refreshing drink for a hot summer day.
