Detailed description

Garden Full of Colours and Life

„A variegated mixture of colourful annuals will brighten your garden from early summer to autumn and will offer food for bees and other pollinators, which is especially scarce in late summer and autumn. You can grow a summer bee garden in the yard, in a flower bed, or even in a larger window box.“

Milan Pleva founder of the family company

A colourful flood of flowers for pleasure and benefit

The multi-coloured mixture of annuals blooms from early summer through autumn, and the flowers are sought after by bees, butterflies, wild bees, and other pollinators. They thus help the insects to supplement the pasture, especially in late summer and early autumn, when it tends to be insufficient.

The mixture is composed of annual plants, so it is not perennial flower meadow. For abundant and colourful flowering, it is advisable to sow it again every year. After the growing season is over, you can dig the remains of the plants into the soil and use them as a fertilizer. In the case of mild winter, some plants or their new autumn seedlings can survive the winter and bloom again the following year. To give them a chance, it is advisable to cut the old growth at a height of about 10 cm above the ground after the end of the growth season and remove the cut material. However, since this is not an original natural community of plants, other, more persistent species, such as dandelions, will appear in the growth next year.

For the summer bee garden, choose a sunny site with medium to drier moisture conditions. The seed is intended for spring sowing. The soil for sowing must be loosened, weeds must be removed, including the roots, and the flower bed levelled. Sow the seeds evenly at a density of approx. 2 g per 1 m² when sowing by hand and 1 g per 1 m² when sowing with a sowing machine on flat surface, work it shallowly into the soil by slight finishing using a rake, lightly press and water. Pay attention to regular watering, annuals are sensitive to drying out during germination. When sowing by hand, it is advisable to divide the sowing area and the seed into several smaller parts, so you can better estimate the appropriate sowing density. The mixture is not intended for sowing in the open air and in protected areas.

Practical tip

We recommend sowing in the recommended amount of max. 2 g of seeds per 1 m². For easier, more even, and not too dense sowing, the seeds can be mixed with dry sand (or breadcrumbs or semolina) in a ratio of about 1 : 1.
